The Union Elementary
WISE OWL
September 26, 2013

"Have You Seen the Owl Today?"

Welcome to the Union Elementary Wise Owl!  We hope that you enjoy this new way of learning what's going on at UES!

CLEAR THE HALLS DRILL TOMORROW  We will be conducting our first "Clear the Halls" drill tomorrow morning at 9:00.  This will be a "practice" drill, so please feel to talk to your students about it and "practice" for the practice!

THANK YOU!  Hasn't it been nice to have the dumpsters away from the pickup area?  And now, finally, the construction trailer has been moved, freeing up all that extra space on the playground!  Once they were gone, however, there was a big mess left behind.  Someone needed to come to the rescue...

Thank you to Ms. Pines' class for all their hard work cleaning up the playground!
They collected 294 pieces of litter just on the pavement alone!
Please remind your class to be Responsible for making sure litter goes into the garbage cans.

CARES ASSEMBLY!  What a terrific job our PBIS team did organizing our CARES assemblies!  Take a look at these wonderful pictures:

OPEN HOUSE 2013!  Open House for grades 1 to 5 is TONIGHT from 6:15 to 7:15.  Our Open House will be an opportunity for families to join their children in your classrooms and share their work with each other.  Families will also have an opportunity to join their children in their Integrated Arts classes and meet Counselors and Special Educators throughout the evening.  The evening will officially begin at 6:15, but families are welcome to come and go at any time within the 6:15 to 7:15 hour. Please contact Mr. Hennessey if you have any questions.

RIDDLE OF THE DAY

What has a head but never weeps, has a bed but never sleeps, can run but never walks, and has a bank but no money?

Tuesday's riddle:  What loses its head in the morning but gets it back at night?  (Answer:  a pillow!)
